Gean Therapies* aims to provide a 'tool box' of hands-on skills and background knowledge that individuals can draw on to suit their own requirements. No two treatment sessions are ever alike! Alison Gean Davis's personal aim is to make herself redundant, by teaching you the skills you need to gain and then maintain good health.
"A large part of what I do is to teach body awareness. Sometimes all that is needed is clearer knowledge about how the body works and feels for people to then make the changes they need to improve."
Gean Therapies works alongside you as you achieve your goals.
"I tell people I want to make myself redundant - and I do - but you have to remember that a regular service for the body - a massage - is as useful for you as it is for your car. You don't have to feel bad before coming for a massage. And even when you feel good, massage can surprise you by making you feel even better!
Gean Therapies was opened by Alison in Dunblane in January 2000 and offered initially remedial and therapeutic massage, relaxation training and Hyperton-X, a system of muscle release and balancing. The opening ethos was to provide accessible, affordable and achievable treatment and that philosophy continues to inspire the quality of care provided today, though the range of skills available has expanded.
"I want everyone to feel they can access massage and body work - and that has influenced everything from my pricing structure to avoiding jargon to making the building accessible. I also want people to know that their goal - whether that is improved flexibility and strength following recovery from a broken bone, better pain management of a chronic condition or reduction of stress and tension - is achievable. I refer as and when necessary and am honest about my capabilities."
